It is vital to future prosperity that everyone should have access to information which is up-to-date, easy to understand and which addresses the wide range of questions and concerns people have about.

What is Advice and Guidance?

Advice and guidance is defined as:-

  • Provide factual, current and impartial information to clients
  • Presenting ideas in an accessible form for clients to consider
  • Defining and providing routes which could assist clients to reach their requirements

The eleven units that all learners must complete to gain this qualification are:

  • Understand the importance of legislation and procedures
  • Develop interactions with advice and guidance
  • Manage personal case load
  • Evaluate and develop own contribution to the service
  • Operate within networks
  • Assist advice and guidance clients to decide on a course of action
  • Prepare clients through advice and guidance for the implementation of a course of action
  • Assist clients through advice and guidance to review their achievement of a course of action
  • Provide and maintain information materials for use in the service
  • Provide support for other practitioners
  • Design information materials for use in the service

Who is this course for?

The Level 4 Diploma is aimed at experienced practitioners who work directly with clients, disseminating information, advice and guidance and formal advocacy. Prospective learners may also some have managerial or training responsibilities and could be creating information, advice and guidance publications.

Requirements

  • Must be aged 16 or above
  • Learners must be in a voluntary or paid role within the sector – You will be observed in this setting.
  • Learners must be able to demonstrate Maths and English at level 2
  • Learners must have access to a qualified observer. This is someone who holds this qualification or an equivalent or higher.

Hi Grace, to gain RPL your units from previous qualifications must match up exactly to that of the IAG. We need to see your certificates and unit transcripts to determine if there is any RPL. However, typically a full teaching qualification, the assessor and IQA do not hold any unit exemptions for the Level 4 NVQ Diploma in Advice And Guidance. Thank you!

However, your observer would be someone who holds this qualification or higher, typically someone from your own organisation. We do not provide an observer for this qualification. Study method describes the format in which the course will be delivered.
